Maccabi Ukraine – Project “Memory”

This year Maccabi Ukraine, with the support of the Genesis Foundation implemented the project “Memory”. The leader of the project was Viktoria Dyakova, a graduate of one of the sections of the international conference “The Holocaust and Jewish Identity – New Directions in Jewish Education”, that was held in Yad Vashem in 2016. The project included a number of meetings in Zaporozhye, Kiev, Melitopol, Odessa, and Kharkov. All the materials – stories, memoirs, family photos, which were collected and sent by participants from Zaporozhye, Izmail, Odessa, Krivoy Rog, Kharkov and Berdyansk were included in the collection “The history of my Jewish family”. Presentation of the book and meetings with the project participants took place in the Jewish organizations of these cities, August through September.Безымянный коллаж (10)

Maccabi Zaporozhye took part in a swimming race across the Dniepr River

August 12, activists of Maccabi Zaporozhye took part in a swimming race across the Dniepr River.

More than 600 participants from 15 regions of Ukraine swam for the first time across the Dniepr River. The main competition of the holiday was a swim for 1K. The participants started on the island of Khortytsa and finished on the red carpet at the Central beach of Zaporozhye.Без названия 2Без названия

“Remember those who will never come again!”

August 5, Maccabi Ukraine presented the book “The History of My Jewish Family” in the Berdyansk Charitable Foundation “Hesed-Velvele”. The “Memory” project was implemented with the support of the Genesis Foundation following the international conference “The Holocaust and Jewish Identity – New Directions in Jewish Education”, held in 2016 and the Israeli national memorial of the Holocaust and Heroism “Yad Vashem”.Бердянск (2)
