May 22, on the eve of Lag B’Omer, Maccabi Ukraine held a mass FunRun event in one of the most picturesque places in Kharkov, Feldman Eco-Park.
Maccabi Fun Run is an international day of Jewish communities and sports! Similar events take place in 25 cities all over the world, including Paris and Amsterdam, Johannesburg and Philadelphia, Barcelona and Warsaw, London, Budapest and Helsinki.
The staff of “Shaalavim” Lyceum and Maccabi Kharkov are holding this event for the second time; they took an active part in the preparations.
It is very symbolic that Jewish organizations came together and celebrated this wonderful holiday of Lag B’Omer.
This year, for the first time, other Jewish organizations of Kharkov joined the Maccabi FunRun project: JDC, Beit Dan Jewish Cultural Center, Hesed Shaare Tikva, Jewish Volunteer Platform and Project Kesher, whose members participated in the fun race, talked to each other and enjoyed being together in the Eco-Park.
The Chief Rabbi of the Conservative Judaism in Ukraine – Rav Reuven Stamov, spoke about the history of Lag B’Omer, and took an active part in the holiday.
The event ended with an awards ceremony.
